It’s amazing to see that even after a decade, you are still taking the time out of your day to reply to comments here. I want to add as an example and considering myself to be the “most confident man in the universe.” That happened because on a whim, I decided I wanted to feel how anyone feels-when they’re in front of a mirror, with a hairbrush or whatever, singing their hearts out, to their favourite song. Without care, or being aware of the self. I wanted to take THAT feeling-and feel it while in public, singing and dancing to my favourite tunes... And? It was the most difficult, agonising, painful (all of this mental of course), thing I’ve ever done! The surprising result being that I could now get on the stage with a million people and I would be just as calm, collected and comfortable being there. Something even performers with decades of stadium stage experience still struggle with (they still get nervous when they perform). And I believe it’s because they never focused and addressed public performance like I did. I don’t think anyone has. I experienced a moment of “enlightenment.” My self-consciousness (or the ego?) died in that moment… I realised a moment of truth, that, if you are happy with yourself, and are FULLY yourself. Either people will be happy along with you (95% of the time!) or they simply just don’t even care because they have stuff on their minds. …Or every so often a person in great pain (mentally) would reveal themselves in how they react to your flow. Don’t mind them, they’re suffering. So when I started doing pranks (here on YT) and some people were surprised as to how I was able to do that, and be so natural? It’s because I had done “the work.” I made the decision to keep going at the start, even though it was tough. Mind you, I was a confident person before that. Before I experienced what I now refer to as “super confidence.” I’m the guy who would start conversations with complete strangers-but it was the feeling of not caring like I said before, that most people experience when they’re by themselves, that quality was what I wanted to feel-but outside, in public! It only took about two months of daily deliberate practice, despite the discomfort 😂 It was such a great lesson that a book is in development to help other people; reach that form of enlightenment. And from then on, it’s been incredible and I can see myself on stage (speaking or singing!). Not having to worry about ‘stage fright’ or warming up to the idea of public speaking. That experience and experiment means I have another tool in my toolbox I can pull out, and use whenever the opportunity arrives. I can and love to perform, anywhere, anytime. I love that something so terrifying to others (it feels like a super-power, because most people would rather die than speak in public), -feel so comfortable, calming and exciting at the same time -BUT it wasn’t easy to get to that elevated state of being, is the only way I can describe it…but just believe. You never know what great thing or skill could come of it. Make a decision on a goal. Start it. Then keep going, even if when you start, you don’t particularly know where end result will take you. (Not sure I would have done public pranks or what I called, sharpening my improv skills…compared to doing improv at a (safer) theatre/club space; had I not done that experiment). I never could’ve imagined I would experience that moment of enlightenment starting from the simple idea of thinking hey… “I want to feel no different to singing and dancing in private or in public-in front of complete strangers.” I feel like I could make this clearer, but hopefully you get the gist. It’s not being afraid of the unknown, work with it. Believe in yourself and trust the process. Great discoveries awaits!
